NARROW GAUGE DIESEL LOCOMOTIVES FROM POLAND

The smallest Polish diesel locomotive class is equipped with 40 hp and 50 hp engines and called WLS 40 / WLS 50. The abbriviation in front of the hp figure means "narrow gauge diesel locomotive". Being in service for the Polish States' Railway PKP, the same locomotives are called "L" with a letter/figure combination following, naming their wheel arrangement. These diesel locomotives are at home in tough industrial sites' services, (brick and sugar plants, etc). But once restored and possibly optically modified, they also are perfect for garden and tourism railways, like shown below at the Polish Poznan "MALTA" municipal railway.
